Powerless in threading incandescent invitation and lost in the glare of a low son. Late afternoon drafts. Convivial palaver and easy gregariousness course through dusty air, and heads turn studying lithe physiques, flirty smiles, raised eyebrows and searching glances. No time, the day’s end crawls into present, spreading long shadows over pavement. Coolness sinks into night air, the world unplugged from the embittered rush of schedules and plans as if a neon sign, closed for business. Come again for hearty spirits and bought kindness. It’s what’s for sale in times of solitude.
