the cloud door
—
under a sky
stroked by ribbons of night
a heart out-pours, spilling secrets
like ancestral bloodthe stars nod knowingly
at one another
they have seen this so many times beforedeclarations of love
jump from slick lips
jumbled up in their haste
to tell tiny storiesthe heavens listen, close their eyes
cluck their tongues, pat her headfor as often as the gods laugh at our folly
so do they rejoice in our splendor.image & words © jennifer summer | 2013
